Dear Players, Parents and Carers
We hope you have all enjoyed the 2023 winter basketball season.
For teams in Miniball, U10 and U12 age groups the last game of the season will be this weekend, Friday/Saturday 25/26 August.
For teams in U14, U16 and U18 it is also the final game of the regular season. Those who finished in the top 4 of their division, will be heading into finals. We wish those teams the best of luck!
The U8 Development program finishes next Tuesday the 29th August and our Raiders Hoops (Yr1) program finishes up on Wednesday the 30th August.
As the season comes to a close there are a few things we need your help with.
Club Awards Each season we like to recognise the efforts of our Coaches and Managers. If you feel your Coach and/or Manager has done a fantastic job this season please send through a nomination.
Talk to other parents in your team and get them on board, let's make sure the right people get these awards!
The winners of the awards are selected based on the number of nominations received and the content of the nomination. Please include your Coach/Managers name and your team number in your nomination.
Below are the categories awarded:
Best Manager of a junior team (U12 and below)
Best Coach of a junior team (U12 and below)
Best Manager of a youth team (U14 and above)
Best Coach of a youth team (U14 and above)
Best Young Coach (school aged coach)
Nominations close at 5pm Monday 28th August. Return of Playing Singlets
All players (except those in finals) need to return their playing singlets this weekend.
Please give it to your manager immediately after the game - even though it will be stinky and sweaty, we will wash it and have it ready for next season. It will need to be in good condition, otherwise you will forfeit your deposit. If you do not return your singlet, you will not be able to register with Raiders in the future.
If you have a bye this weekend, please get your shirt to your manager this week so they can return it. For those players in finals (U14 and above), hang on to your singlets and they can be returned at the Youth wind up on Wednesday 13th September.
Raiders Hoops (Yr1) and U8’s (Yr2) your shirts will be collected by your team Managers at the end of your last session.
Included in your Raiders fees was a deposit for your playing shirt. Once your Manager has returned your teams shirts they will be given the deposits in cash to return to each player.
Club Photographer Our club photographer Damian Doyle has been busy all year taking photos of our kids playing basketball, many of you will have met Damian at your games. He will still be photographing a few over the last week. Please make him feel welcome when you do.
All photographs are available on his website. You will note that Raiders photographs are password protected. Please contact your manager for the password to access the photos of your game.
